In the queer section, films from Brazil, South Korea and Ghana, among others, deal with the themes of gender, family, identity, class, ecology and resistance. Under the title »Alongside«, current feature films, documentaries and short films can be seen in nine programmes – including four German premieres. They juxtapose different stories, voices and perspectives and thus show positions against simple polarisation. A lecture by Elahe Haschemi Yekani and a discussion about the director and screenplay of the successful queer series Schwarze Früchte round off the selection.

The programmatic ‘juxtaposition’ is also implemented in the festival’s own work: author, media culture scholar and curator Lisa Tracy Michalik and curator, artist and lecturer Karin Michalski have been responsible for the programme together with Natascha Frankenberg, who has been head of the section for many years.
