Trio A
Yvonne Rainer
Yvonne Rainer’s criticism of the conventions of watching in her films are based on her work as a dancer and choreographer. Trio A is one of Rainer’s best-known dance performances; a dance that negates any glamour and prevents the dancer from looking towards the audience. The piece was originally performed by the three dancers William Davis, David Gordon and Steve Paxton, but was interpreted by Rainer herself in 1966.
