Wolves from Above
Demelza Kooij
A pack of wolves filmed from above in a single shot. The wolves go about their business, calmly and intently. Disconcertingly close, we hear them sniffing, growling, their paws padding on the grass. They interact with each other – occasionally glancing upwards, clearly aware of the buzzing drone.
However discretely we observe animals, our presence always has an effect on their behaviour.

Demelza Kooij ist Künstlerin, Filmemacherin und unterrichtet Filmwissenschaft, Film sowie Art in Science an der Liverpool John Moores University. Sie interessiert sich für un(ter)erforschte Bereiche, Menschliches und Nicht-Menschliches, Hybridität, Ökologien des Meeres, Landes und Himmels und den Austausch zwischen ihnen. 2020 erhielt sie ihren PhD mit Empathising with Animals: Non-Human Subjectivity in Documentary Film. Ihre Arbeiten werden auf Filmfestivals und in Museen gezeigt.
