Personal Images: Personal Semiotics of War presents a selection of the articles, diaries, letters and photographs that director Masa Hilcisin Dervišević collected during the war in Bosnia from 1992 to 1995. Covering different periods, the diaries include themes such as hiding in basements, falling in love, separation and yearning to escape. In an intimate talk with her mother and sister, the director also discusses the decision to remain in Bosnia during the war – and the dilemma it entailed.
