Lecture »Pioneers, Divas, Visionaries – The Women of Arab Cinema« by Irit Neidhardt & Screening »Zohra«

Irit Neidhardt is a freelance writer, curator and expert on Arab cinema. In her lecture she will give an overview of Hollywood on the Nile and Arab film history, told through her women (in German language).

As part of the lecture, a fragment of Zohra will be screened: The script for the 35-minute silent film from 1922 was penned by Haydée Samama Chikli, who was only 16 years old and also played the lead role and edited the film. The screening will be accompanied by musicians Gunda Gottschalk on violin and Mariá Portugal on drums.
