»Threshold« at »ifs-Begegnung« Gender & Diversity on March 9.
On March 9, the »ifs Begegnung« Gender & Diversity will take place again at Filmforum NRW. This time we will show Threshold by Coraci Ruiz in the original version with English subtitles at 7 pm. Admission is free.
Threshold (Limiar) is a visually powerful, intimate family portrait, from the perspective of a mother accompanying her son’s transition. Material from the family archive, conversations, snapshots: during the three years of filming, views, the family and also the shared visions change. The son is part of a queer movement, the mother accompanies him to the protests in the streets and is reminded of her own political youth. Limiar is an autobiographical documentary and a generational story. In beautiful montages of images, the director questions herself and reflects on her fears and prejudices.
Guest is Flo Bader who teaches at the University of Cologne and works in the field of film education with a focus on queer and gender representations. Flo Bader’s PhD dealt with critical perspectives in relation to heteronormativity in film education. The event will be moderated by Maxa Zoller.
