The Filmkultur NRW network founded the Netzwerk Filmkultur NRW e.V. association in autumn 2021. A total of 12 institutions, including film workshops and film festivals, are founding members of the association, which aims to strengthen and network film culture in North Rhine-Westphalia, recognize film as art and lead the discourse on its developments. The purpose of the association is to convey film culture to all age groups.

The primary aim is now to set up a coordination office that will increasingly bring the network to the public from one of the offices in the Filmhaus Cologne and network it with one another. The Minister of Culture has promised to support the coordination office from 2022.
