Spot on, NRW! presents the Freie Szene Film Dortmund e.V.

In the section Spot on, NRW!, the IFFF Dortmund+Cologne also champions voices from the region. This year, we are focusing on a milestone for the independent film scene: the founding of the association Freie Szene Film Dortmund e.V. Thanks to the support of the Dortmund Economic Development Agency and the City of Dortmund’s Cultural Office, the association brings the local film scene to the attention of film enthusiasts and filmmakers with open-air cinemas in public squares, cinema programmes, workshops and network meetings.
We are presenting a short film programme with six contributions by Dortmund filmmakers who move in the field of tension between the search for safe spaces and the conquest of new places. Above all, they express the desire for resistance, which is revealed in the films as a quiet, everyday action – a look, a movement, a refused word. But it is also staged as an open break with the expected or as artistic rebellion.
The programme not only shows, but also opens up for new voices, for courageous images, for the next step. Spot On, NRW! is both an invitation and a statement – an invitation to discover new perspectives and a statement in favour of the strength of the independent film scene.
