Whacker
Stanya Kahn, Harry Dodge
»Under a cloudless Los Angeles sky, Kahn − dressed in incongruous heels and a summery dress − runs an electric weed whacker through a hill of overgrown grass. During breaks, the whacker’s annoying buzz gives way to the trill of birds and distant sirens, with Elvis Presley’s In the Ghetto leaking from a passing car or a radio somewhere.«

Harry Dodge
Harry Dodge works together with Stanya Khan in Los Angeles. In their video works the artists approach the alienation and violence of contemporary American life with absurdist humour. Dodge and Kahn’s collaborative, performance- based videos inhabit an urban L.A. landscape that evokes both the everyday and the post-apocalyptic. In deadpan performances and elliptical narratives, Dodge and Kahn infuse their uncanny visions of Bush’s America with wit, dread and longing.
