Vakha i Magomed
Vakha and Magomed
Marta Prus
Vakha and his ten-year-old Magomed have emigrated from Chechnya to Poland. Left to their own devices, they have to deal with the rigours of everyday routine in a bleak refugee centre in Warsaw. We see them cooking, playing, praying, cleaning their teeth and turning in for the night. Yet despite the dreary circumstances, they attempt to lead a normal everyday life. They also try to hang on to their identity despite the traumatic war experiences. The story of Vakha and Magomed, filmed without commentary, provides a humanist look into the relationship between father and son.
