Françoise Doherty

Françoise Doherty is a filmmaker and componist whose work is shown internationally. Her films are set to indie music that she composes herself. Because of her queer films for children, among other things, she is seen as one of the pioneers of queer activism. Doherty is both founder and director of Antistatic, an international media festival for students, as well as of Prod Dash, a 48-hour race in media production, also for students. For many years she has been teaching media art and communication as a professor at various universities. She herself has an M.A. in media arts from the California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor in fine arts and marketing from the University of Guelph in Ontario.
