That’s All From Me

Eva Könnemann

2024
experimenteller Kurzfilm

»For several minutes, the viewer sees nothing but a black screen. Two women from different generations read a correspondence aloud. A filmmaker asks a writer for advice because, since her daughter was born, her artistic work seems to have come to a standstill. The correspondence leads to an exchange of videos: to get back to creating. The filmmaker sends fragments of everyday life with her child, reminiscent of illustrations in a hidden object book. The writer sends sketches of trips to the sea and suggests a simple idea: what about bird watching? Still searching for creative inspiration, the filmmaker and her microphone end up in the picture herself, questioning ornithologists about the breeding behaviour of the birds she is filming. The credits reveal that none of this is coincidence, but rather a razor-sharp and wonderfully cinematic construction that is easy to fall for, because the real filmmaker Eva Könnemann seems to have artfully and intelligently overcome her artistic impasse. This makes the film, entitled THAT’S ALL FROM ME, so much more.«
