Shift simultaneously takes stock of and retraces the past. Salzgitter: A town where history deposits itself layer upon layer. The central theme is Gerbaulet’s family history, which is brought to life by records from the family’s private archives. A film that analyses and imagines. Accompanied by the punk rock of her youth, the cacophony of the steelworks and the roar of the motorway, occasionally interrupted by the cutting silence of the disused mines, where radioactive waste will be stored from 2020. Half-life: 24,000 years. 685 generations.

Alexandra Gerbaulet
Geboren 1977, lebt und arbeitet Gerbaulet als Künstlerin, Filmemacherin und Kuratorin in Berlin. Gerbaulet hat Philosophie, Medienwissenschaften und Freie Kunst in Braunschweig und Wien studiert. Für ihre Arbeiten erhielt sie zahlreiche Preise und Stipendien. Seit 2014 arbeitet sie als Produzentin bei pong film in Berlin.
