»From this year, fringes may cover the eyebrows, as long as they don’t reach the eyes.« Rules like this – for hair, fingernails and general personal grooming – are common in Japanese middle and high schools. This film is a visual tutorial about these rules, exposing their absurdity with sharp humour. It critiques body norms and questions obedience and self-determination.
