Only the Best

The biggest mistake you can make is to consider something is perfect. There’s always room for improvement.«
– Quality Assurance Manager Sebastian
Two dog breeders, two tomato growers, one ballerina from the Ballett Dortmund and a quality assurance manager are all in pursuit of perfection. For them, it is a matter of course to always want to get better. But where is this pursuit for the best results leading? What does perfection mean to individuals and to society as a whole?
We watch the quality assurance manager trying to optimise almost perfect work processes in his company. The ballerina struggles with iron discipline to achieve maximum physical fitness. The two dog breeders try to breed the perfect Dalmatian with the help of blood and hearing tests. The tomato growers submit to the trade’s quality requirements to produce the perfect tomato: red, round and all the same size.
Director Kim Münster asks where our systematic endeavours to be efficient are taking us. The film’s protagonists come from Dortmund and other towns in North Rhine-Westphalia.
