At a Nashi Summer Camp in Russia, 10,000 boys and girls are preparing themselves for a heroic future. They are the chosen ones of Russia: the next-generation managers and politicians at the behest of a country striving to be global leader of the 21st century. In 2007, Daya Cahen was allowed to film this youth movement camp as created by Vladimir Putin. Nashi means »Our Ones«. She captured her impressions with two cameras and presents them in a double projection.

Daya Cahen

Daya Cahen lives and works as a photographer and video artist in Amsterdam, having studied photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy there. Her works address the topics of propaganda, indoctrination and the manipulative power of the media. In that process, she pursues links between the political and everyday personal life, combines archive material with contemporary images and teases out the borders separating fact from fiction. Her works are exhibited worldwide.
