Set against the backdrop of Turkey’s stunning Black Sea coastline, the director highlights the cruelty of social norms and portrays the youthful rebellion of five sisters.

It’s the last day of school before the summer holidays in a small village in Turkey. Lale and her four sisters walk home along the beach road together with their classmates. In high spirits, the girls fool around on the beach, start a water fight and then wander cheerfully through the sun-filled orchards of the neighbourhood.
