Model Village is about a stretch of land separating North and South Korea that acts as a buffer zone between the two countries. Tis is where the town of Kijong Dong was built in the 1950s to create the illusion of wealth for the enemy. On closer inspection from the South Korean side, it is clear that the houses are uninhabited. Te town is like a stage set. Inspired by Kijong-dong, Hayoun Kwon created model, which a camera explores in Model Village. The soundtrack features extracts from propaganda film dialogues, sounds from nature and telephone conversations about film permits. Te film brings the ghost town to life. We are left with the impression that the town is accessible only in our imaginations.
