Before Ximena Cuevas began making videos, she was employed in the film industry and in cabaret. Her works examine the borders between reality and fiction, the layers of lies and hassles faced by the individual against power structures and systems. Her videos have been shown at numerous exhibitions and are part of the collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre George Pompidou in Paris.
