Lookin’ Good, Feelin’ Good

In her exploration of the phenomena of anxiety and power, Kahn climbs inside a giant penis costume in Lookin’ Good, Feelin’ Good and wanders through the streets of her Los Angeles neighbourhood. Men wave down at her from rooftops, children think she’s a fish, a burrito, a shark or a rocket. Simultaneously, we see the artist in the same costume performing a stand-up routine in her studio. Tangentially, she describes a personal experience from her childhood that still affects her today. A film about how humour can make way for a new language.
Stanya Kahn
1968 in Kalifornien geboren, studierte Kahn Sozialwissenschaften in San Francisco. Es folgte ein Kunststudium an der Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts am Bard College, Red Hook. Die Praxis der vielfach ausgezeichneten, interdisziplinär arbeitenden Künstlerin umfasst Malerei, Performance, Videokunst, Literatur und Fotografie.
