Lookin’ Good, Feelin’ Good
In her exploration of the phenomena of anxiety and power, Kahn climbs inside a giant penis costume in Lookin’ Good, Feelin’ Good and wanders through the streets of her Los Angeles neighbourhood. Men wave down at her from rooftops, children think she’s a fish, a burrito, a shark or a rocket. Simultaneously, we see the artist in the same costume performing a stand-up routine in her studio. Tangentially, she describes a personal experience from her childhood that still affects her today. A film about how humour can make way for a new language.
Born in California in 1968, Kahn studied social sciences in San Francisco. This was followed by a degree in art at the Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College, Red Hook. The work of the award-winning, interdisciplinary artist encompasses painting, performances, video art, literature and photography.
