Set in the capital of Chad and shot at original locations, this film tells the story of strong-willed single mother Amina and her 15-year-old daughter, Maria. Disowned by her family at an early age because of her illegitimate child, Amina was unable to finish school. She works tirelessly to support herself and to pay for Maria’s education. When Maria becomes pregnant and an abortion seems impossible, Amina starts to question her society’s long-held traditions, awakened and inspired by her assertive, independent daughter. A fresh start for both mother and daughter.
