Carolee Schneemann
The film Fuses arose from the question of how desire could be portrayed on film. Therefor, Schneemann assembles erotic scenes with her partner in such a way that the film takes on a strong painterly and sensual character. Basically, she treats the Super8 film material like her partner, editing it until it is sticky, scratched and heated. But the banal and everyday also always has its place in Schneemann’s films, especially her beloved cat with the meaningful name ‘Kitsch’.
Fuses contains depictions of sexual nature.

Carolee Schneemann ist eine der bedeutendsten feministischen Künstlerinnen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sie ist Teil der Generation, die Performance als Kunstform verstand – und erfand. Die Fotodokumentation von Interior Scroll (1975), in der sie eine Schriftrolle aus ihrer Vagina zieht und vorliest, gehört immer noch zu den ikonischsten Fotoarbeiten der Kunstgeschichte.
