Set against a sterile backdrop, the film stops the clocks and examines this life-changing moment as if through a magnifying glass. How do children cope with all the questions, thoughts and emotions that suddenly take over their existence? How do they find their way back to a life that will never be the same again?

Eef Hilgers schloss 2012 ihr Studium an der Kunstakademie St. Joost in Breda (Niederlande) mit dem Dokumentarfilm Just a Girl, You Know ab. Der Film portraitiert junge Mädchen, deren Identität maßgeblich durch YouTube geprägt wird. Es folgten weitere Jugenddokumentationen, die sich mit dem Einfluss der Digitalisierung auf Teenager befassen. Auch bei verschiedenen Serienformaten für Jugendliche führte Hilgers Regie.
