Angeni, a young female track star, who dreams of becoming the fastest woman in the world, is forced to undergo a sex verification test due to her ultra-masculine appearance and exceptional performances. Tormented by the medical scrutiny, in which she is made to believe her body is abnormal, Angeni’s sense of self is undermined, and her athletic dream is shattered by the need for classification.
Gina Pei Chi Chen
Gina Pei Chi Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan, where she grew up. She studied film, video and integrated media at the Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design in Vancouver. Her films and video works revolved around queer theories and gender identity. After extensive travelling, Gina Pei Chi Chen now lives in Los Angeles and is working on her first feature film.
