Faxen
Lisa Domin
The film contemplates a form of communication that is written into the air with great gestures. The unusual architecture of the Gelsenkirchen prison, with the women’s and men’s sections facing each other, makes so-called ›faxing‹ possible. Conversations can be carried out using hand or light signals – usually between strangers who never actually see each other. An existential way of communication, whether just to kill time or to dream of a common future.
