Yoko Ono sits on stage, a pair of scissors in front of her. She asks the audience to cut open her clothes. Initially, it seems like a bit of artistic fun, but then the mood changes. We see it in Yoko Ono’s face. Men are especially willing to join in; the women are a little more hesitant. Yoko Ono stops only when she can barely hold the shreds of her underwear together. She stages this performance for the first time in Japan in 1964. In the US, she asked Albert and David Maysles to film her performance.
