The scene is downtown London, and Nina Könnemann observes various employees hid away in the niches and passageways of office blocks for a smoke. Smartly dressed men and women who since the EU ban on smoking in public places are forced to satisfy their cravings surreptitiously.
Nina Könnemann
Nina Könnemann is primarily known for documentary videos that address the phenomena of post-modern society. She exhibits world-wide and has received many grants for her work – e.g. from the NRW Art Foundation, the DAAD and the Goethe Institute. In 2010, she held a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. She has also directed two music videos for the German band Tocotronic. Ms Könnemann, born 1971 in Bonn, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg and lives and works in Berlin.
