Armenia – Invisible Country
Mariam Ohanyan
The British Museum in London holds a large collection of early-history artefacts from Armenia, including a head in bronze of the Armenian goddess Anahit. Searching for this exhibition piece, director Mariam Ohanyan finds only a hall with the signage: Ancient Turkey. However, that entity did not exist at the time when many of the exhibits were created. Armenia – Invisible Country casts light on this historical misrepresentation under ethnological aspects.
Mariam Ohanyan
Mariam Ohanyan stammt aus der armenischen Hauptstadt Yerevan, absolvierte an der Yerevan University zunächst ein Studium der Mathematik und graduierte anschließend an der Soziologischen Fakultät im Bereich Film. Ihre Filme wurden auf Festivals gezeigt und ausgezeichnet. 2007 zeigte das Festival in Dortmund Larger Than Life. Seit 2002 ist Mariam Ohanyan Direktorin von Liza Production, seit 2004 außerdem Leiterin des Internationalen Frauenfilmfestivals KIN in Yerevan.
