Organic textures found in Mexico’s natural landscapes are captured frame by frame in macroscopic view. The sequences are morphed into each other and the textures begin to transform and become alive. The camera is panning over root plants, fur, feathers, bones and animal cadavers. Processes of decay and rot characterize the biotope passing-by. animistica is an experimental animation film about nature and death, at the border between the lively and the inanimate.

Nikki Schuster
Geboren 1974 in Österreich, lebt und arbeitet Schuster als Animationsfilmkünstlerin und Sounddesignerin in Berlin. Ihre Filme werden bei diversen internationalen Filmfestivals und Ausstellungen präsentiert. Neben ihren Filmproduktionen macht sie Motiondesign für Theater, Fernsehen und Installationen und leitet Animationsworkshops. 2010 war sie als Artist-in-Residence in Paris und Buenos Aires und 2012 in Taipei für ihr Recyclers-Filmprojekt.
