The opening track of the eponymous album by Viennese underground combo Blueblut lasts just 41 seconds. Accompanied by minimalist percussive sounds, we hear voices speaking the strange word Andenborstengürteltier in different accents. In a whirlwind montage, Angela Christlieb uses alienation effects to bring the small Andean hairy armadillo of the title to the screen in a dazzling audiovisual trip.
Angela Christlieb studied under Valie Export and Heinz Emigholz at Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and also studied film production in New York. She is a freelance writer, director and editor as well as a lecturer on the Experimental Media Design course at UdK Berlin and in Anthropology Media Studies at Freie Universität Berlin.
