Over the last ten years, Shana Moulton has created the alter ego of Cynthia for her videos and deconstructs consumer-oriented promises of cures and treatments in a pop culture get-up.
Shana Moulton
Shana Moulton, born in 1976, works in video, performance, and installation. She holds a BA from UC Berkeley in art and anthropology and an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University. Since 2007, her work has been shown internationally in group exhibitions and solo shows, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. It recalls the video aesthetics of the late 1970s and 80s and thematically interweaves consumerism with commercialised spirituality.
