»When words fail us – Women talk about new beginnings« at World Views Dortmund

In 2015, thousands of people came to Germany from Syria. A particularly large number of women, children and young adults left their home.
Cornelia Bartlau’s film is about three women who fled Syria and Iran with their children and are trying to make a new life in Jena. One of the film’s key questions is whether the wishes and dreams the women had before they fled their countries have been fulfilled in their new home. What were their experiences, how are they coping with the new language, and what job prospects do they have? Have they settled into their new home, or do they still feel like strangers?
The »World Views« programme is aimed primarily at women with and without an immigrant background, but is also open to anyone who enjoys watching good films. The conversations following the film screenings – with and without guests – are usually passionate and engaging, but always characterized by mutual respect.
Free admission.
The film will be shown in the german version.
