»Hive« at World Views Dortmund
In May, we will be screening Blerta Basholli’s powerful feature film Hive at the World View Dortmund. The film tells the story of Fahrije, whose husband has been missing since the Kosovo War and who, alongside her personal grief, faces serious financial difficulties. Together with other women from her village, she begins making and selling ajvar – thereby facing fierce resistance from the patriarchal village community.
The film won the Grand Jury Prize, the Directing Award and the Audience Award at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.

Understanding, openness and coming into contact with people of different nationalities and origins are our motives for the series World Views. Once a month, we show entertaining as well as thoughtful films from different countries to make the prism through which we see the world even more colourful.
People with and without an international history, women with refugee experience, their families and anyone interested in excellent, often rarely shown international films directed by women are warmly invited to the programme.
