Pictures flash staccato-like across the screen, abruptly, fragmentarily. They are accompanied by an insistently whispering voice. The speed of the images challenges the viewers’ perception. »It smells red« hisses Prouvost in a voice-over as a close-up of hot smouldering ash flickers across the screen, just long enough to enter the viewers’ consciousness.

1978 geboren, stellt die Künstlerin weltweit in Museen und Galerien aus, u. a. im Neuen Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.), in der Tate Britain oder auf der Frieze Art Fair 2011. 2013 gewann sie mit ihrem Video Wantee den Turner Prize. Ihr Werk umfasst neben Filmen auch Performances und Installationen. Oft geht es in ihren Arbeiten um Zusammenhänge und Differenzen von Sprache und Begreifen.
