Hannah is the first part of the experimental documentary series Of Origins, which deals with the life and activities of feminist Jewish women in Germany in the early and middle 20th century. As an alternative to the usual representations of Jews in pre-war Germany, Irit Reinheimer drafts speculative love letters, assembled from archive material, amateur footage and rotoscopes.

Irit Reinheimer

Irit Reinheimer lives in Philadelphia. Her first artistic works were sculptural installations exploring the relationship between women and work. She continued on to documentary and experimental film focusing on ideas of identity and loss, both inherited and acquired. Reinheimer uses her late father’s 8mm home movie footage and reassigns locations and people in order to retell history and explore new stories.
