Hedi doesn’t seem to be what you’d call the average grandma. She’s quite happy breakfasting with her granddaughter with nothing on apart from her worn-out hiking boots, which are slowly but surely falling apart. Hedi is very attached to her boots – to her, they’re much more than just comfortable footwear. If the daily routine starts getting a bit much, she taps the tips of her red shoes together and disappears into another reality, where she’s energetically
climbing mountains, is young, free and in love. In Her Boots received a BAFTA Award nomination in 2020.

Kathrin Steinbacher ist eine österreichische Animationsfilm-Regisseurin und Illustratorin. Sie lebt und arbeitet in London, wo sie ihr Bachelorstudium in Illustration und Animation an der Kingston University und ihr Masterstudium in Animation am Royal College of Art abschloss. 2020 erhielt sie das Salzburger Jahresstipendium für Film. Ihre Filme Freedom (2017) und The Woman Who Turned Into A Castle (2018) wurden weltweit auf Filmfestivals gezeigt und mehrfach ausgezeichnet.
