»Fassaden« at World Views Dortmund

A rear view of a man and a woman, both bare-chested, embracing each other. The background is black and the woman appears to be dissolving as if she were made of paper.

Together with Türkische Filmtage Dortmund and the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Dortmund, we invite you to the screening of the documentary Fassaden by Alina Cyranek.

Narrated by Sandra Hüller, the film tells the story of a woman who breaks free from a long-standing, violent relationship – whilst also revealing what lies hidden behind seemingly normal façades.

Afterwards, director Alina Cyranek, together with representatives from Dortmund’s women’s support services and the Equality Officer, Maresa Feldmann, will discuss why violence against women often remains invisible – and what needs to change.

The event combines a cinema experience with a discussion, inviting you to discover new perspectives and engage in conversation with one another.

Understanding, openness and coming into contact with people of different nationalities and origins are our motives for the series World Views. Once a month, we show entertaining as well as thoughtful films from different countries to make the prism through which we see the world even more colourful.

People with and without an international history, women with refugee experience, their families and anyone interested in excellent, often rarely shown international films directed by women are warmly invited to the programme.

The event is taking place in collaboration with Türkische Filmtage Dortmund and the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Dortmund.
