During this time, they are surrounded by other people they didn’t choose to be with, work in places they didn’t choose to be in but which were built especially for this purpose. Carolin Schmitz

Carolin Schmitz, born 1967 in Wiesbaden, attended the Cologne Academy of Media Arts from 1997 to 2002. She has had a teaching position at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts since 2007, and also became a visiting professor for film. She has taught at the International Film School Cologne since 2012 and has also had a teaching position at the University of Wuppertal since 2013. Her films have earned her numerous awards, including second prize in the German Competition at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen for 4 min 3 sec, the German Short Film Award for Benidorm and a Special Mention at the Berlin International Film Festival 2010 for Portraits of German Alcoholics.
