Pol Merchan
Kathy Acker’s writing, and a seminal portrait of her taken by intersex photographer Del LaGrace Volcano, provide a lens through which to explore trans subjectivity and the queering of cinema. Pol Merchan’s hybrid documentary fluidly moves from the documentation of the punk era to a more performative exploration of gender.

Pol Merchan (*1980 in Leida, Spanien) erhielt seinen Abschluss in Bildender Kunst an der Universität von Barcelona und einen M.A. in Kunst im Kontext von der Berliner Universität der Künste. Seine Arbeiten wurden u. a. im Reina Sofía Museum, Madrid, im Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre, den Anthology Film Archives, New York, dem Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, dem Guanajuato International Film Festival sowie den Internationalen Kurzfilmfestivals in Oberhausen, Clermont-Ferrand und Sao Paulo gezeigt.
