5 June: Red threads: Susan Philipsz and Elizabeth Price Artist Talks

Introductory video talk: Elizabeth Price and Maxa Zoller (Artistic Director IFFF Dortmund+Köln)
This introduction to the video installation The Teachers by Elizabeth Price (on view in the HMKV exhibition Holding Pattern) weaves together the different threads that make up this complex video installation, such as textiles, satire and the problem of the neo-liberalisation of academic language.

Screen, Sound, Space: Cinema and the Art of Susan Philipsz
Artist Talk with Susan Philipsz, moderated by Maxa Zoller
This talk looks at the relationship between Philipsz’s art and different kinds of filmic genres and style, from technicolour feature film to experimental avant-garde. How does the sound-image relation in cinema unfold in Susan Philipsz’s installations? Cinema as a source of ideas and inspiration can be seen as a red thread that deeply informs Philipsz’s work.

The event will be held in English.

Free admission.
