5 December: Afghanistan – Women’s Voices
Together with the Cologne based film network LaDOC, we invite you to the film & discussion event Afghanistan – Women’s Voices at the Cologne Filmhaus on December 5th. Filmmakers Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami, Sahraa Karimi and Sahra Mani are expected as guests.
The directors will use the two documentaries Sonita and A Thousand Girls Like Me to talk to filmmakers from Germany about the films and their current work situation.
The director and head of the Afghan Film Institute, Sahraa Karimi, will give an insight into the cinematic work of women in Afghanistan with a focus on the special conditions there.
Other institutions have joined the LaDOC initiative as cooperation partners: the Nuremberg International Film Festival for Human Rights in the Filmhaus Nürnberg, the KHM Academy of Media Arts Cologne, the ifs international film school Cologne and the HFF University of Television and Film Munich have also invited Sahraa Karimi and Sahra Mani to film talks and master classes. Together we want to contribute to making the voice of the filmmakers from Afghanistan more heard in Germany.
