10 December: Afghanistan – Women‘s Voices Part 3

Film and discussion event at the Filmhaus Cologne and online.

Two years ago, in response to the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, the Cologne based LaDOC network organized a film and information day on the dramatic situation of women in Afghanistan. The IFFF Dortmund+Köln was also a cooperation partner for the event in 2021. On the initiative and with the support of participating director Sahra Mani, a small group of LaDOC women subsequently took very concrete steps: they launched a fundraising campaign to support local women with food. This fundraising campaign is still running successfully today and has helped many local people.

Two years later, women in Afghanistan continue to live without rights, in poverty and fear. Once again, we are focusing on these women with great urgency and reporting on how our commitment – albeit on a small scale – is showing concrete results.

With two films and a subsequent discussion with Razia Bromand, women’s rights activist from Afghanistan, whose escape was made possible with the help of LaDOC and the Kabul Airlift Initiative, we invite you to listen to the Afghan women and get to know the situation on the ground first-hand.
