{"id":33193,"date":"2024-10-02T15:31:33","date_gmt":"2024-10-02T13:31:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/frauenfilmfest.com\/?p=33193"},"modified":"2024-10-08T09:55:19","modified_gmt":"2024-10-08T07:55:19","slug":"panel-discussion-the-framing-of-the-archive-now-online-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frauenfilmfest.com\/en\/panel-discussion-the-framing-of-the-archive-now-online-available\/","title":{"rendered":"Panel discussion \u00bbFraming the Archive\u00ab now online available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You can now watch the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=o9EVnehBicE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recording<\/a><\/strong> of our important and insightful panel discussion <strong>\u00bbFraming the Archive\u00ab <\/strong>at the 74th Berlinale in February 2024 on Youtube. <strong>Gaby Babi\u0107<\/strong> (Head of the Asta Nielsen Cinematheque), <strong>Jihan El-Tahri<\/strong> (filmmaker, visual artist, producer), <strong>Elisa Jochum<\/strong> (Head of the Film Heritage Department, Deutsche Kinemathek) and <strong>Elif Rongen-Kaynak\u00e7i<\/strong> (Curator Silent Film, Eye Filmmuseum) discussed questions and parameters of a critical approach to archives together with <strong>Maxa Zoller:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Women have been working in front of and behind the camera since 1896, many have disappeared from film history. The film archive is essential for film festivals \u2013 it has the power to change the past, present and future of women\u2019s cinema. However, a critical approach to the feminist archive is absolutely vital. How to deal with absence in the archive: with women, LGBTIQ+, People of Color? How do we frame historical films with sexist and racist images, scripts, ideologies? And in what way do we take responsibility for our own entanglements in unbalanced power relations, in particular when working in institutional and national archives? What role do accidental archivism and private collections play?
