A chorus of voices emerges: dancing bodies moving through the night to music from portable speakers, rising up in defiance. It is a generation’s cry for relief from economic and social hardship. Faces full of hope, reciting poetry and reclaiming public spaces by immortalising their heroes in murals. Filmmaker Hind Meddeb captured these images of Sudan’s revolution in 2019, chronicling the activists’ sit-ins, their demands for a civilian government and the power of artistic expression in their resistance. The film bears witness to the relentless struggle: the military’s brutal crackdown, escalating violence, the outbreak of a war and unimaginable suffering that continues to this day.
Here, remembrance through cinematic storytelling becomes a gesture of political defiance. The activists insist that silence is the true killer. This is why they raise their voices, honouring Sudan’s poets and the enduring poetry of humanity and justice. Once you have seen this collective portrait, you will never forget Sudan.

Content Note

In cooperation with Afrika Film Festival Köln

[806
85
799,801
805
post-41106","movie","type-movie","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","movie_year-806","movie_genre-documentary-en","movie_cat-panorama-en-2025","movie_cat-audience-award-en-2025","festival-2025-en

<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.7 -
