It arose from the director\u2019s desire to work through their own hurtful relationship experiences. Maja Borg deals with power, vulnerability and ways of shaping relationships. Borg\u2019s main point of reference here are BDSM practices. The rituals Borg find here are linked by them to Christian rituals as well as reflections on their past and the role of their own Christian faith in them. Borg\u2019s questions bring the two worlds of BDSM and Christian rituals closer together. The result is a cinematic autobiographical experiment, in which Borg, through people they meet, give way to a feeling of longing. The film switches aesthetically between black-and-white and colour film, intimacy and distance. Borg\u2019s own words on <strong>Passion<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbI needed to re-understand power to understand anything at all. To me this meant walking into the unknown territories of practising BDSM and partaking in Christian rituals and studies. This search for strategies to overcome trauma is the driving force of <strong>Passion<\/strong> My hope is that this film can be part of the growing awareness on constructive and destructive use of power that started with the #MeToo movement, in order to move beyond stigmas that oppress pleasure and provoke abusive behaviour.\u00ab<\/p>\n<p><strong>The film depicts graphic BDSM pratices.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This film has been nominated for the Audience Award endowed with 1,000 euro.
