\u00bbSweden has an uneasy relationship with a self-image that has to come to terms with its status as an immigration and asylum country. I want to be part of the process of redefining Sweden\u2019s national identity. Someone like Rasa, an intense, cocky, straightforward Muslim working class girl who doesn\u2019t give a shit what others think about her is an obvious challenge to the way Swedes have traditionally seen themselves.\u00ab

Rasa originally comes from the Balkans, works in a factory in rural Sweden and is actually quite content with life. She handles her job routinely and gets on pretty will with her women colleagues. Nor does Rasa, a Muslima, face any religious hassle. The only worry she has is her sick and jobless father for whom she looks after financially. However, these worries begin to multiply when the factory owner informs Rasa and her colleagues that he is going to have to let people go because of falling sales. Rasa thus ends up on a collision course not only with society \u2013 and all its weird bureaucracy, contradictory values and expectations \u2013 but also with her father who takes a snap-decision to move to Norway.<\/p>\n
