{"id":47641,"date":"2026-07-13T18:14:44","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T16:14:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/frauenfilmfest.com\/event\/palaestina-36-bei-kino-weltsichten-koeln\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T16:25:52","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T14:25:52","slug":"palaestina-36-bei-kino-weltsichten-koeln","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/frauenfilmfest.com\/en\/event\/palaestina-36-bei-kino-weltsichten-koeln\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00bbPalestine 36\u00ab at World Views Cologne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Together with <em>Cafe Palestine Colonia<\/em>, we\u2019re screening <strong>Palestine 36<\/strong> at Kino Weltsichten in Cologne!<\/p>\n<p>The latest film by Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir, and Palestine\u2019s official Oscar entry, celebrated its acclaimed world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was honoured with a 20-minute standing ovation.<\/p>\n<p>With her feature film Jacir has created a passionate, visually stunning historical epic about the 1936 Arab Revolt, which serves as a cinematic tribute to this defining moment in her country\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Guest: Professor Dr. Abed Shokry<\/p>\n<p>Professor Dr. Abed Shokry comes from a large Palestinian family in Gaza. After studying and earning his doctorate in Germany, he returned to Gaza and taught industrial engineering at the Islamic University in Gaza. Abed Shokry has five children and lived in Gaza during the war until, after much effort, he finally managed to leave, first for Egypt and then for Germany.<\/p>\n<p>What does the historical portrayal of Palestine in Jacir&#8217;s film have to do with us today? How do the media change our perception of Palestine? What is the reality for the people of Palestine?
